Today's Monday Mix offers a wonderful and eclectic mix of deep album cuts and new indie hits that is so good, you may want to start your own band just to be a part of future shows. You may even want to pen an original song, perhaps "Nightman" -- has quite the incendiary ring, don't you think? Or it's ugly step brother, "Dayman."
If you recall, last week I wanted to name the Monday Mix something cool, like "Royale With Cheese." As I mentioned, what happens when you get a little notoriety and some listenership is that all of the sudden the corporate boogeymen want to genericize you. I know, that's not a word. But it is a perfect description. I mean, the Monday Mix? Really? Can I get a plain vanilla shake with that?
And that's me quoting myself using my italicized voice.
The problem with calling it Royale With Cheese is that there are some copyright infringement issues that everybody is so afraid of along with the bad pub that is sure to follow for infringing on said copyright. If I may quote the great poet Brendan Behan, a very learned and well respected man, "There is no such thing as bad publicity. Except your own obituary."
And that's me quoting Brendan using HIS bold, italicized voice.
I guess with so many SOPA and PIPA debates at the forefront of the news these days, copyright infringement is a big issue, maybe bigger than the wretched US economy, unemployment and a deteriorating foreign policy. So we are going to acquiesce to the suits and continue to call it The Monday Mix, which I can guarantee is used by thousands of other radio stations worldwide. If you can't beat 'em, as they say, join 'em.
(FYI -- I didn't use an italicized voice there because I have no clue as to whom to attribute that quote. The first time I heard it was in a McDonald's commercial when I was around 5 years of age. Ooooohh, Mack Daddy D's.....now I want french fries.)
And by the way.......please, pay no attention to the picture at the top of this article, you crazy SOPA supporters, you. Or the one below this paragraph. Thank you very much.

The Monday Mix airs from 12:30PM to 5:00PM CDT each Monday and is designed to help you get through that brutal after-lunch, energy-sucking span that kicks off every work week. This particular set of a music will be a mix of old, deep album cuts and new indie music with a lot of genre crossover. No Adele. Sorry.
What else does The Monday Mix do? Well, it helps you discover new indie music by combining some really great under the radar tracks with more established songs that were, once in fact, under the radar as well. The hope here is that the culture shock of discovering your next favorite band won't be so enormously imposing if we surround the new stuff with some of your old, familiar friends.
Jivewired supports independent musicians by paying royalties for airplay on Jivewired Radio. Please help us support indie artists by listening to our station and by purchasing indie music. Thank you.

Must See TV

"It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" on FX
Last season, Dee got knocked up, Charlie and Dennis partied in Atlantic City, and Mac fought gay marriage in his own unique, misguided way. This season, tune in to see the Gang prepare for the apocalypse, hit the beach at the Jersey Shore, produce a child beauty pageant, and take a walk down memory lane at their high school reunion. As they say, some things never change. So prepare for more depraved schemes, half-baked arguments and absurdly underhanded plots to subvert one another.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia was created by Rob McElhenney and is executive produced by Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Michael Rotenberg, Nicholas Frenkel, Tom Lofaro, Rob Rosell, Scott Marder and David Hornsby. The show is produced by FX Productions.

Five Fun Factoids:
- The first episode of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" was completed with a working budget of $200.00. The makers of the show have claimed that the cost was much lower because the only costs were videotapes, and Danny DeVito has publicly stated that the pilot cost a total of $85.
- American inventor Eli Whitney once tipped a bartender the modern equivalent of $10,000 for a glass of water.
- Fred Rogers, better known as Mister Rogers, wore sweaters to conceal extensive forearm tattoos commemorating his short stint as a Merchant Marine.
- Notre Dame coach Knute Rockne survived a car crash, train derailment, sinking ship, house fire and a tornado before perishing in a plane crash.
- The largest vein of gold ever discovered is in Antarctica, but international law prohibits mining on the continent. Who wants to book a flight with me? Surely if we get 2-3 pounds nobody will ever notice.
